Mirel Yolotzin García, from the organization Ávido Desarrollo Humano based in Mexico City, talks about a theatrical play in Nahuatl, developed within the framework of the project "Totlahtul Yultok" ("Our language lives"). The play, which involves puppets and actors, emphasizes the value of one's mother tongue and the consequences of losing it.
The Mexican associations Wewetlahtulle and Ávido Desarrollo Humano have been implementing the Totlahtol Yultok project since 2011 with the goal of strengthening the use and intergenerational transmission of the Nahuatl language and especially the oral tradition preserved by the native speakers, who belong to the oldest generation- the legitimate holders of traditional knowledge.
